If you want to become more efficient and organised at work using Microsoft Excel, at TAFE Queensland we have the course for you!  Microsoft Office Excel: Intermediate is designed to assist you in improving your expertise and developing your skills further by mastering the tools and features of Excel.

Gold Coast
Microsoft Excel - 6 hours face to face on campus. 

In this session, using the Windows 10 platform, you will learn how to:

  • work with rows, columns and worksheets
  • relative, absolute and named references
  • Excel Math
  • 3D formulas
  • use the functions: SUM, AVERAGE, and COUNT
  • formatting

Greater Brisbane
Microsoft Excel - 4 hours. In this session you will:

  • Learn how to be more productive with data entry using Fill-Handle, Absolute Reference, Transpose data, Flash-Fill, Text-to-Column and adding drop-down data lists.
  • Learn how to apply key functions like CONCATENATE, SUM, COUNT, SUMIF, TRIM, COUNTIF, MAX, MIN, SUMIFS, NOW, IF, VLOOKUP.
  • Learn how to better manage spreadsheets using FUNCTION search, automatically updating data/functions/formulas, editing formulas and functions, using CHECKSUM, adding the Developer menu item, linking worksheets and applying Freeze panes,
  • Learn how to display data and results effectively using Sparklines, Show Formulas, using Rounding functions, advanced conditional formatting, Array Formulas and Protecting cells and sheets.

This short course is non-accredited therefore is not registered with the National Training Register.

Selection criteria

It is highly recommended that you:

  • know the essentials of Microsoft Excel;
  • have competent computer literacy skills, including an understanding of personal computers and the Windows operating system, especially working with files and folders;
  • be able to confidently use a mouse and keyboard.

  • If you are driving, BEFORE you arrive, please download the EasyPark App, set up your account and in the Search bar at top of the screen, type ‘Tafe’ and select the appropriate parking area to set as your location – something similar to this will appear- Care Park Australia street parking, private, 1 day duration.
  • We highly recommend you download the app and enter the details prior to arriving as there may be no signal in the basement. If you have any issues reach out to security on campus located on the ground floor near the lifts.
  • Parking can be accessed via Paddington Place. ONLY park in the spaces marked with the Red TAFE Queensland logo on the ground on either B1 or B2 to avoid being fined by Easy Park. 
    Please be aware that parking spaces can fill early.

Please note: The Seedpod Cafe on site at our Robina Campus is not open for business on the weekend or in the evenings so you are advised to bring your own refreshments.
The Green Fields restaurant & bar on site at our Robina Campus is open from 4pm-9pm most days of the week. Green Fields information.
