Get skills to apply for a restricted Electrical licence
Qualified tradespeople may apply for a restricted Electrical Licence, which requires skill sets including: composite equipment, instrumentation/process control, plumbing and gas, electric motors, electronics and refrigeration, and air conditioning.
The number of competencies required depends on your existing electrical work training permit. Restricted Electrical Work Licences do not authorise the holder to carry out installation work. You will receive a Statement of Attainment, but not the full Certificate III in Appliance Service qualification.
Statement of Attainment
TAFE Queensland is a proud recipient of Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) funding and is a registered provider in the CSQ Short Course and Apprentice Advance Plus programs - several units in this course are subsidised under one of these programs. It is important to note only eligible participants may receive funding for eligible courses. Learn more about eligibility criteria.

Once students successfully complete their training with us, they must complete the application process with ESO to receive their Restricted Electrical Licence.
Please Note: A restricted electrical work licence does not authorise the holder of the licence to carry out installation work.
If you want to go on to further study at university, TAFE Queensland has a pathway option to get you there. In many cases, completing one of our diplomas may give you a full year of credit towards a degree with one of our partner universities.
