They will learn from the industry's best, on the job, giving them the hands-on, practical skills to take on this significant operational responsibility.
Their training will cover the selection and inspection of lifting gear and/or the directing of the crane operator in the movement of the load when the load is out of view of the crane operator.

Learn moreEntry into this course is available via commercial/corporate arrangements only. There are no scheduled campus dates, as training and assessment is delivered on-site in the workplace.
Assessments can only be undertaken at the age of 18 or over. The Legislation requires the applicant to have a basic knowledge and understanding of the English language. Sound literacy and numeracy skills are recommended.
As training is delivered in the workplace, the employer will also need to provide a suitable room for theory training to take place. This can be negotiated with the TAFE trainer/assessor.
Following the successful completion of assessment, students will be issued with an Assessment Summary (AS1). The High Risk Work (HRW) licence application form and supporting documentation (including the AS1) must be lodged at a participating Australia Post outlet in Queensland for processing. Please note that the application must be lodged within 60 days of successfully completing the practical assessment and that an application fee is payable. Following lodgement, enquiries regarding your application should be directed to WorkSafe Queensland.

If you want to go on to further study at university, TAFE Queensland has a pathway option to get you there. In many cases, completing one of our diplomas may give you a full year of credit towards a degree with one of our partner universities.
