This accredited course covers the skills to service, repair and inspect automotive LPG systems and components in an automotive workplace including gas device (engine), containers (tank or cylinders), fittings (valves, regulators, converters, shut off devices, fill points) and pipes. The course includes the mandatory competencies required for workshop authorisation application and may be undertaken in addition to or as part of other automotive qualifications. Entry requirements

You must be qualified or currently undertaking an apprenticeship in one of the following:  

  • AUR30320 Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology
  • AUR30420 Certificate III in Agricultural Mechanical Technology
  • AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology
  • AUR31120 Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
  • AUR31220 Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology

You will need to supply a copy of your Statement of Attainment or Qualification at the time of enrolment.

Resources required

You are responsible for meeting the minimum occupational health and safety requirements in practical classes.
This includes the use of:

  • clear safety glasses to AS 1336 or 1337
  • protective footwear with safety toe cap and non-slip soles to AS2210
  • You should also wear 100% cotton drill industry-standard protective clothing

If you fail to meet these minimum standards of dress, you will not be permitted entry into practical classes.

You will be provided with a recommended reading list and/or required textbooks after enrolment, during orientation or at the start of each unit. The purchase of these resources may incur additional costs, or you may be able to borrow them from the TAFE Queensland library network.

You are also required to have access to and bring personal stationery:
