Course overview

Unilearn is a comprehensive online, self-paced program, designed as a University pathway that equips you with the means to fulfil the prerequisite requirements for your tertiary studies through our individual units. All of this is achieved through a fully online, self-paced learning environment.

The below units are Grades 11 and 12 equivalent:

UNL11 Academic Literacy Skills
This course has been designed to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in writing assignments at the tertiary level.

UNL14 Senior English
In this course, you will learn about how language varies based on context, purpose, audience, content, modes, and mediums, and how to utilise it effectively.

UNL21 Chemistry
This course bridges the gap between chemical reactions, inorganic and organic compounds, preparing you for university-level chemistry and fields that rely on a strong foundation in chemistry.

UNL31 Introductory Mathematics
This course is equivalent to the mathematics curriculum taught in year 11 and 12 at most state schools, with the inclusion of supplementary topics.

UNL32 Senior Mathematics
This course provides you with the prerequisite mathematical knowledge and methods necessary to enrol in an undergraduate degree at a university.

UNL44 Biology 
This course provides you with the prerequisite biology knowledge and skills necessary to enrol in an undergraduate degree at a university.

UNL71 Physics
This course provides a bridge for the study of matter and its motion through space and time.

UNL81 Introduction to Economics
In this course, you will learn why economics focuses on decisions about how production occurs, how resources are allocated, and how the proceeds of production are distributed.

Entry requirements

Selection criteria

Unilearn assumes that upon enrolling in an online unit, you possess a certain level of computer familiarity and competency. This includes proficiency in utilising programs such as Word, Excel, and Adobe Reader, as well as the ability to perform basic tasks like employing the Save-As function, attaching files, saving low-resolution images, and effectively inserting and manipulating images and tables within Word documents.

In addition to the above, you will also require the following for each individual unit:

UNL11 Academic Literacy Skills
There are no further requirements to enter into this course.

UNL14 Senior English
You should have a good grasp of the English language, grammar and spelling and also have the ability to read and comprehend a wide range of text.

UNL21 Chemistry
You must be competent in mathematics including algebraic manipulation, solutions of linear equations, the concepts of ratio and proportion and the interpretation, and drawings of graphs. An understanding of junior science, especially scientific terminology relating to chemistry, could be an advantage. UNL31 Introductory Mathematics is an option but is not mandatory.

UNL31 Introductory Mathematics
There are no further requirements to enter into this course.

UNL32 Senior Mathematics
You should be competent in mathematics including algebraic manipulation, solutions of linear and quadratic equations, properties including (graphs) of linear quadratic trigonometrically and exponential functions and knowledge of the theory of logarithms is also desirable. UNL31 Introductory Mathematics is an option but is not mandatory.

UNL44 Biology
You should be competent in year 10 science. UNL31 Introductory Mathematics is an option but is not mandatory.

UNL71 Physics
You should be competent mathematics including algebraic manipulation, solutions of linear and quadratic equations, properties including (graphs) of linear quadratic trigonometrically and exponential functions and knowledge of the theory of logarithms is also desirable. UNL32 Senior Mathematics is an option but is not mandatory.

UNL81 Introduction to Economics
There are no further requirements to enter into this course.

Resources required

The only textbooks mandatory to purchase are the Economics eBooks.  All other hardcopy textbooks are optional and can be purchased online via the Qld Textbook Warehouse (qtw.com.au).

If you are an off-shore student, you do not require a student visa, you can complete your study in your home country.

Unilearn has developed these units at an equivalent level to the curriculum taught in Australian high schools at a Year 11/12 level.

Bridging studies
Single-subject bridging units will not get a rank but can be used to:

  • meet subject prerequisites
  • gain tertiary study skills
  • gain basic knowledge in a selected subject.
