Course overview

Coomera Creative - School of Rock is a dynamic school holiday intensive experience designed for high school students who are passionate about music and eager to experience what it’s like to study and create music in a tertiary environment. This immersive program provides young musicians with hands‑on experience in songwriting, music production, performance, and electronic music creation.

You’ll take part in three specialised workshops led by industry‑experienced educators and practitioners, with simultaneous sessions each day ensuring every student rotates through all streams and develops a broad, industry‑relevant skill set. Throughout the program, you’ll be supported by mentors who promote creativity, experimentation, and collaboration.

Songwriting & Production
Collaborate to write and produce an original track, learning essential skills in song craft, arrangement, modern production techniques, and studio workflows. You’ll also gain practical insight into the creative process behind bringing a song to life.

Songwriting & Performance
Co‑write a song and prepare it for a live performance, developing skills in musical collaboration, rehearsal techniques, and stagecraft.

EDM Production
Explore the foundations of electronic music by creating beats using a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). Learn core principles of sound design, electronic composition, and contemporary beat‑making.

Showcase Event
The program culminates in a Listening Party and Live Gig, where you’ll showcase the music and productions you’ve created. Family, friends, and the wider community are invited to celebrate the students’ achievements in an authentic performance setting that mirrors the experience of tertiary music study.
