Kick start your career with this entry-level course in business administration. This course will give you the practical skills to successfully work in medical office environment.

According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, the number of people working as general clerks grew strongly over the past five years and is expected to continue to grow in the future. This is a very large occupation with over 182,000 job openings expected over the next five years, ensuring strong job outcomes for graduates.

This course will give you a sound basis in sustainable and inclusive work practices and help you to develop strong workplace communication skills. You will also learn how to maintain workplace health and safety. In this specialisation you will also develop practical skills including how to maintain patient records, confidentiality and how to interpret and apply medical terminology.

Domestic students
While there are no entry requirements for this course, TAFE Queensland requires you to have a good knowledge of computer basics and a sound achievement in Year 10 Maths, and English is desirable.

Important information

Online Self-Directed
When studying Online self-directed it is strongly recommended students follow the order of study and enrol in no more than two units per intake or the units required to complete one cluster/stage, unless otherwise advised.

Online Virtual Classroom
The online virtual classroom program is delivered virtually, meaning students will participate in online delivery. Duration of course is up to 8 months, classes are timetabled 3 days per week (4 hours each) and students have the ability to attend tutorials and access recorded training sessions for on-demand access.

This course is organised in 7 week teaching blocks. This program will require students to complete 4 sets of 7 week teaching blocks to complete the full qualification. Prior to the commencement of your course, you will receive an invitation to attend an orientation week to ensure that you are supported prior to commencement of study.

On Campus Delivery
This program will be delivered on campus 3 days a week over 2 terms full-time and completed in up to 9 months (if studying part-time).  Tutorials are offered weekly as additional support. Students are able to enrol 4 times a year – January, April, July and October.
In the week prior to classes commencing, orientation will take students through Connect, the Learning Management System where all learning resources are stored.  Orientation will include Library and Student support tours, as well as other student services available on campus.

Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
