According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, demand for advertising and marketing professionals grew very strongly over the past five years and is expected to continue to grow in the future. This large sector is likely to have around 53,000 job openings in the next five years.
This course will help you to understand social media platforms and learn how to use them to your benefit. You will also learn how to write and develop content for digital publications, use key performance indicators, and develop comprehensive social media marketing strategies. This course will equip you with the skills to lead a marketing team and present confidently to stakeholders.

Successful completion of this course will enable you to specialise in social media, search engine marketing (SEM), strategy and sales, and marketing management roles.

For most online courses study is structured into fixed intakes that have set durations of 12 weeks from the study commencement date. You will be able to access your learning materials from the first day of the study period. You must be enrolled to be able to access your learning materials. To ensure you can manage your study load, we recommend limiting your workload to no more than 2 units of competency per intake or the units required to complete a cluster/stage.
If you want to go on to further study at university, TAFE Queensland has a pathway option to get you there. In many cases, completing one of our diplomas may give you a full year of credit towards a degree with one of our partner universities.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
While this qualification has no formal entry requirements, TAFE Queensland has the following selection criteria:
- successful completion of a Nationally Recognised Training qualification at Certificate III level or higher; or
- ACER's Core Skills Profile for Adults Level 3 or above; or
- 2 years relevant industry experience in a role that requires the use of written documentation and communication.
In order to successfully complete your online studies you must have access to a computer with a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect.
When studying online it is strongly recommended students follow the preferred order of study and enrol in no more than two units per intake or the units required to complete a cluster/stage, unless otherwise advised.
Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
