From Taiwan to Australia: A Student's Quest for Hands-On Fitness Experience
TAFE Queensland ticks all the boxes for international student.
When Ian started considering opportunities to pursue her passion for exercise abroad, she knew she wanted to find a destination that would be a perfect fit. After some research, she came across Australia as a top contender. With a well-organised education system, abundant resources, and a multicultural environment, Australia ticked all the boxes for her. Additionally, being only a 9-hour flight away from Taiwan made it a much more accessible option compared to other countries with similar education opportunities.
Ian was thrilled to discover that National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences (NTUNHS) had a course agreement with TAFE Queensland. This meant that she had the incredible opportunity to undertake part of her program in Australia. TAFE Queensland's Certificate III in Fitness (SIS30321) at the Robina campus was the perfect fit for Ian, as it would allow her to gain valuable hands-on experience in the field she was passionate about.
One aspect of TAFE Queensland that Ian particularly loved was that the institution provided students with an onsite gym and sports facilities. This would allow Ian to put her theoretical knowledge into practice, which would be a valuable learning experience.
“By observing the differences with the teaching methods of Asian countries and drawing on the advantages and experience, I will have diverse abilities and be more competitive in the future,” she said.
Ian's experience so far at TAFE Queensland has been fantastic, and it has helped her to discover her passion for fitness. She is excited about the prospect of completing the Certificate III in Fitness at TAFE Queensland, which will provide her with the necessary qualifications to achieve her goal of becoming a fitness instructor.
“I have enjoyed studying fitness in the classroom but also discovering my passion for being a fitness instructor,” Ian said.
“The teachers at TAFE Queensland are all kind and really take care of the international students.”
Out of all the aspects of completing the Certificate III in Fitness at TAFE Queensland, Ian's favourite has been the brand new TQ Fitness Centre located within TAFE Queensland Robina. Being able to use the facility during practical class has been beneficial for Ian, as it has given her the opportunity to gain more confidence and experience in the gym.
Once Ian successfully completes the Certificate III in Fitness, Ian has set her sights on pursuing the Certificate IV in Fitness, starting in July this year. Upon completion of both courses in Australia, Ian plans to return to Taiwan to continue her bachelor's degree at NTUNHS. She is thrilled to know that she will be able to obtain credit exemptions thanks to the qualifications she has earned in Australia.
Ian couldn't be more delighted with her decision to pursue her studies in exercise at TAFE Queensland. She feels that she has gained invaluable practical experience, met amazing new people, learned about the Australian culture, and, most importantly, discovered her passion for helping others achieve their fitness goals.
