Driving clean energy careers

With more than 40 years in the electrical and renewable energy industry under his belt and a keen interest in environmental sustainability, there’s a lot to be learned from David Gartner.

David is new recruit for TAFE Queensland, and in his role as a Subject Matter Expert, will be calling on his extensive industry experience to not only write course content but also to teach the next generation of electrical and renewable energy tradespeople.

“After four decades in the field, I’ve seen how electrical and renewable energy technologies have evolved—and how vital it is to pass that knowledge on. I’m excited to help shape the next generation of tradespeople who’ll be driving Australia’s clean energy future,” David said.

Soon David will support learners in classrooms at Biloela and Mount Isa – with three micro-credential workshops being held at each location in October and November.

The workshops, aimed at future tradies and apprentices, are free to attend thanks to funding by the Queensland Government to support the Regional Economic Futures Fund (REFF).

REFF aims to support long-term sustainability by enhancing economic, social and environmental liveability and sustainable regional growth and economic diversification.

Developed in collaboration with industry reference groups and subject matter experts, each micro-credential reflects real-world challenges and opportunities.

This ensures that learners gain relevant, actionable insights that directly support job performance and career progression.

“What sets these micro-credentials apart is their deep integration with industry needs,” David said.

“Micro-credentials serve not only as learning aids but also as targeted solutions for workforce development.”
