Music and production students shine at The Princess Theatre showcase

The Princess Theatre came alive recently, as TAFE Queensland music and production students took to the stage for an end-of-semester showcase celebrating creativity, collaboration and hands-on industry experience.

The showcase featured students from the Certificate II in Music (Performance) (CUA20620) and the Diploma of Music (Performance) (CUA50825) programs, with behind-the-scenes support from students in the Diploma of Music (Sound Production) (CUA50825) and the Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services (CUA30425).

Family, friends, industry guests and supporters were treated to an evening of live music spanning indie, alternative rock, pop and metal, with powerful vocal performances, impressive musicianship and high-energy sets highlighting the breadth of talent emerging from TAFE Queensland's music programs.

The event also reflected the strong sense of community within TAFE Queensland's music department, featuring performers from across the training journey.

This included Certificate II students, current and graduating Diploma students, and a special guest performance by an alumni band from the class of 2024, who continue to perform together professionally.

From rehearsals and stage preparation through to live sound, lighting and performance, the showcase highlighted the collaborative nature of the music and live entertainment industries.

Diploma of Sound Production students delivered technical sound and lighting support throughout the evening, gaining valuable experience in managing the demands of a professional live event environment.

Meanwhile, Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services students assisted with stage management, coordinating performers, equipment changes and backstage operations to ensure the show ran smoothly from beginning to end.

The event also highlighted the strength of TAFE Queensland's industry partnerships, with IJS Productions generously sponsoring the backline equipment used throughout the showcase.

By working in a professional venue alongside industry partners, students gained invaluable practical experience that will help prepare them for careers across the music, live production and entertainment sectors.

The annual showcase continues to demonstrate the depth of talent emerging from TAFE Queensland's music and production programs while providing students with authentic opportunities to develop the technical, creative and professional skills demanded by industry.

The annual event celebrates student achievement, industry collaboration and the bright future of Queensland's creative industries.
