Teaching at TAFE Queensland

TAFE Queensland teachers deliver educational excellence. They encourage and mentor our students to help them succeed in their chosen industry.

Becoming a teacher at TAFE Queensland will give you the opportunity to teach in a variety of locations across Queensland. With our flexible delivery options, training doesn't happen only in the classroom. It may also take place in workplaces, virtual classrooms, online, or in our state-of-the-art training facilities including restaurants, simulators, and salons. 

As a TAFE Queensland teacher you may also contribute to developing training packages. This is done in consultation with industry to ensure our courses continue to meet workforce requirements.

To be eligible to become a TAFE Queensland teacher you must:

  • be able to demonstrate vocational competency at least to the level of the training package being delivered
  • have current industry skills relevant to the teaching position
  • hold one of the following qualifications
    • TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus TAEASS502* and TAELLN411*
    • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
    • Diploma in Vocational Education and Training
    • a higher level qualification in adult education

*For those holding a TAE40110 these two additional units are required to be obtained prior to 1 April 2019 to meet compliance requirements.

Contractor and visitor induction

TAFE Queensland is a member of the Zero Harm Leadership program. We make the health and safety of people working, learning or visiting any of our locations our top priority.

Before any contractor or visitor commences work at TAFE Queensland they will need to complete a General Induction and a Site Specific Induction. Upon completion of this induction participation will be recorded on our Contractor and Visitor Induction Register.

The Site Specific Induction is undertaken by our health and safety or facilities teams prior to work commencing. If contractors or visitors are working across multiple locations, they must complete a site specific induction for each location.

Nothing in TAFE Queensland's induction process may be construed as implying or suggesting that the contractor or visitor is in anyway released or absolved from fully complying with all statutory obligations of common law.

Please note it is a requirement that the General Induction and Site Specific Induction/s are completed annually.
