Entry requirements
Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who hold a current first aid and CPR certificate and have been recognised as competent through a recognised training program or recognition process against the following units of competency:
- SISFFIT001 Provide health screening and fitness orientation
- SISFFIT002 Recognise and apply exercise considerations for specific populations
- SISFFIT003 Instruct fitness programs
- SISFFIT004 Incorporate anatomy and physiology principles into fitness programming
- SISFFIT005 Provide healthy eating information
- SISFFIT006 Conduct fitness appraisals
- SISFFIT014 Instruct exercise to older clients
- SISXCCS001 Provide quality service
Resources Required
No specific resources are required to successfully complete this course.
You are required to bring your own sports clothing and sports shoes, a gym towel, hat and water bottle. You may be required to purchase TAFE Queensland branded uniform items.This will be discussed at enrolment and/or orientation.
It is recommended that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for use at all TAFE Queensland locations.
Robina campus
The Robina campus will be a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) campus for general learning. Students are able to access discounted pricing for device purchases via JB Hi-Fi. TAFE Queensland will have some portable devices available for short term loan and there will also be a limited number of desktop computers located on-site that students will be able to access. Any student enrolling under the age of 18 must be aware that to gain registration in the industry you cannot be insured until you are 18 years of age. This does not affect enrolment but may affect employability options until this age. Please refer to teacher for further information.
Replacement qualification
This qualification has been replaced by SIS40221 Certificate IV in Fitness as of 9 November 2021. A transition period applies to enable current students to complete their study. The transition period finishes on 10 May 2023.
