Selection criteria
To undertake this course with TAFE Queensland, you must have access to the required machinery in an appropriate environment, and must be aged 17 years or above. Although you may undertake training prior to the age of 18, applicants under 18 years of age will have a Restricted Yellow Card issued, marked with an 'R'. When an operator turns 18 they will be issued with an Unrestricted Yellow Card.
It is recommended that you have basic reading, writing and numeracy skills. You would also benefit from having previously completed Work safely at heights.
Resources required
- identification documentation such as a Driver's Licence or Birth Certificate (required for Yellow Card application)
- access to the relevant machinery
- relevant worksite Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which may include:
- safety helmet
- harness
- safety boots to Australian Standard AS2210
- gloves
- safety glasses
Need to know
Refresher courses are also available that will assist in maintaining skills and currency and can be used as evidence when renewing your Elevating Work Platform Operator Licence Yellow Card.
