Whilst there are no formal entry requirements for this course TAFE Queensland has the following selection criteria:

To be considered for enrolment into this course you will be required to meet the entry requirements and undergo an interview. You must be the owner or operator of a small business for the past 12 months. 

Resources required

It is recommended that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader. This equipment and software is available for use at all TAFE Queensland locations.

Placement

Workshop and tutorial support will be available.

Important information

This course is an accelerated learning offering. Our course has been tailored to the key needs of growing and developing business owners, managers and leaders. Your existing skills, experience, and knowledge in business will be leveraged upon within our workshops and online learning. We aim to extend and build your knowledge and experience through our small group or one-on-one workshop session.

What’s Involved?

Accelerated Delivery model; there are two convenient study options to choose from:

  1. Group mentoring sessions:
    • 3 x 3 hours face-to-face workshops
    • Online learning and support
    • 3 x 1 hour individual mentoring sessions
  2. One-on-one delivery sessions:
    • 6 x 1 ½ hour individual mentoring sessions online or face-to-face
    • Online learning and support

 

To be eligible for the Higher Level Skills subsidised price, you must:

  • Student must be the owner, manager or employee of a small business in Queensland;
  • be aged 15 years or over, and no longer at school;
  • permanently reside in Queensland;
  • be an Australian citizen, permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen; and
  • not hold or be currently enrolled in a Certificate IV or higher-level qualification (does not include qualifications completed at school or foundation skills training).

Assessment methods

Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
