Course overview

Take the first step towards a career in horticulture with this introductory course. This qualification will qualify you to work as a farm hand in a variety of settings including viticulture, production horticulture, or mushroom production. 

You'll develop essential skills including how to recognise and report hazards in the workplace and follow workplace safety procedures and directions. You'll also learn how to plant and harvest horticultural crops, operate basic horticultural machinery and equipment, and implement standard weed, pest and disease control measures. 

Successful completion of this course will enable you to seek entry-level roles in vegetable or berry production, tree cropping, grape growing, or mushroom production.
