Course overview

Course overview

Become a painter and decorator with this apprenticeship qualification. Continue to progress your career in a residential or commercial setting.

According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, the number of people working as painting trades workers is growing. This very large occupation is expected to create around 19,000 job openings over the next five years with employers looking for people who are reliable, hard working, and work well in a team.

In a range of domestic and commercial settings, you'll learn how to prepare surfaces and apply paint, wallpaper and other coatings to protect, maintain and decorate interior and exterior surfaces. Learn a range of skills including how to handle painting and decorating tools, equipment and materials and match paint colours. Our industry-expert teachers will ensure you can work safely and effectively in a construction environment, including erecting and dismantling restricted-height scaffolding so you can work on elevated platforms.

Successful completion of this qualification as part of your apprenticeship allows you to apply to become a qualified painter and decorator and continue your career in the industry.
