Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Need to know

The Commission for Children and Young People Act 2000 (Qld) contains a law to help ensure that people seeking to work with children are suitable. This is called the 'working with children check'. Any person wanting to work in regulated employment as a paid employee, a volunteer, or a person carrying on a regulated business will have to fill out a Blue Card application form consenting to a criminal history check prior to his or her appointment or engagement.

You will be unable to attend Vocational Placement until you hold a valid Blue Card. Once enrolled you will need to make an appointment for your teacher to sight your ID and sign your Blue Card application form. The teacher will then arrange for the application to be lodged with Blue Card Services for processing and final approval.

Assessment Methods

Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
