According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, there are likely to be around 6,000 job openings for secretaries (including legal secretaries) over the next five years. Employers are looking for qualified candidates who are reliable, trustworthy, and have sound computer skills.
By the end of this course you will be able to demonstrate an advanced understanding of criminal law, family law, property law, contract law, legal frameworks, wills and probate, evidence law, trust accounts and establishing legal files. TAFE Queensland's industry experienced teaching staff will provide you with the one-on-one guidance you need to succeed in your legal studies and beyond.
Successful completion of this course will qualify you to work as a paralegal, conveyancer, legal secretary or legal services support officer. It will also give you the foundation skills needed to undertake further studies in your field.
Over 85 per cent of students who successfully complete this course go on to further study or employment, with many graduates securing university places in undergraduate degrees like the Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Bachelor of Justice and Bachelor of Legal and Justice Studies.

For most online courses study is structured into fixed intakes that have set durations of 12 weeks from the study commencement date. You will be able to access your learning materials from the first day of the study period. You must be enrolled to be able to access your learning materials. To ensure you can manage your study load, we recommend limiting your workload to no more than 2 units of competency per intake or the units required to complete a cluster/stage.

Greater Brisbane - Part time
The Part time evening program can be quite intensive, as it is delivered over two night's per week. It is highly recommended that you undertake additional self-study to ensure management of the required study load to complete this program.
Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
