The accounting services industry has grown over the past five years on the back of steady economic growth and increasing demand for industry-specific expertise. As the taxation office continues to enforce stricter reporting requirements, small business owners are seeking external expertise to assist with financial services.

In this course you'll develop the skills and knowledge required to establish and maintain a payroll system. You'll also learn how to identify and apply compliance requirements to effectively process and complete business activity statements.

Successful completion of this skill set will allow you to seek registration as a qualified BAS agent. This course is also a stepping stone to further study, giving you two units of credit towards the FNS40217 - Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping.

Selection criteria

You need to meet one of the following requirements:

  • Year 10 level of education or equivalent  
  • Mature-aged entry with work experience in a related field
