You will be invited to complete a Skills Check following your application submission, before enrolling to your studies. This helps you to decide if your course is right for you and allows us to understand your current abilities in English, Maths, as well as using Digital technology.
The recommended benchmark levels for this course are 4 in English, 4 in Maths and 4 in Digital Technology.
If you are applying for a VET Student Loan the required levels to meet academic eligibility, as outlined by Commonwealth guidelines, is Level 4 English and Maths.

Selection criteria
In order to fulfil the compulsory placement requirement of this course, students must turn 18 years of age in the first semester of study.
Students completing the CHC40321 Certificate IV Child, Youth & Family Intervention must undertake Placement in a relevant Child Protection service and must achieve competency during the Placement in order to complete the qualification.
- Family Support stream: a minimum of 150 hours or until competency is achieved
- Residential and Out of Home Care stream: a minimum of 170 hours or until competency is achieved
A Placement arrangement is not required prior to enrolling, however it is strongly recommended that prospective students make sufficient enquiries to be confident of their ability to successfully locate a placement during Stage 1 of their studies. TAFE Queensland teachers are also able to assist with locating a Placement.
Literacy levels equivalent to a successful completion of year 10 English are recommended. Study will involve a range of reading comprehension activities, analysis of information and interpretation, working with policies and legislation, completing forms, hand-written and electronic reports, writing case notes and referrals, and conducting research and referencing.

On campus with some online: Only available to students who are in the Greater Brisbane area and willing and able to participate in industry vocational placement within 50km of the Brisbane CBD.
