Course overview

This course covers the requirements of the 1995 STCW Reg VI/3, Convention Chapter VI, Code Section A-VI/3 and Table A-VI/3.

On meeting the minimum standard of competence in advanced fire-fighting, you will be:

  • competent to take command, organise and train fire parties and control fire-fighting operations;
  • have the acquired knowledge of fire prevention and an ability to inspect and service fire detection and extinguishing systems and equipment; and
  • will also be able to investigate and report on incidents involving fire.

Selection criteria

You will be required to display to your teacher your STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting Certificate or AMSA issued Certificate of safety Training Certificate of Competency at the course induction.
