  • English and maths
  • time management and organisation skills.

Class support, workshops and tutorials may also be provided at different locations.

LEAP to a successful student journey

At TAFE Queensland it is important that you Learn, Engage, Access and Progress (LEAP) through your studies.

LEAP is designed to support students to prepare for, engage with, and achieve success with their study at TAFE Queensland, while self-monitoring their progress, support needs, and mental health and wellbeing.

Studiosity

Feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or not sure where to start? It's okay, we all get stuck sometimes.

Whether you're struggling with writing, maths, or referencing, you can get immediate, one-on-one help from a subject specialist via Studiosity after hours.

Learning Skills Centre

Sometimes learning online just doesn’t cut it. Are you looking for some extra face-to-face help? The Learning Skills Centre is available for certificate, diploma and higher education students at select TAFE Queensland libraries in Greater Brisbane (please see timetable below for more details).

At the Learning Skills Centre, there’s always someone ready to help you. Teachers can provide face-to-face help across a broad range of topics. We can also work with you to create an individual learning plan to provide targeted support.

No appointment needed, the Learning Skills Centre works on a drop-in basis. So come in and say hello to see how you can improve your education journey. You can visit any centre, no matter what campus you are enrolled at or what mode of study you have selected.

We also offer support over-the-phone, via email and using Zoom. Please see our timetable below for details.

Mental health and wellbeing

Feeling a little anxious or stressed during your studies is normal and can actually help you to focus and get things done. On the other hand, too much stress or anxiety isn’t productive or healthy.

On top of balancing home, study and work commitments the added stress of assessments and exams can take its toll. Learn what to expect, where to get the best tips and advice, and where to get help when you need.

AccessAbility support

At TAFE Queensland, we are committed to making everyone's experience enjoyable and worthwhile.
If you have a disability and need help, we can provide practical assistance, support, and advice.

Our AccessAbility Support team will work with you to develop an individual support plan which may include:

  • communicating with teachers on your behalf when required
  • providing sign language interpreters, readers, and scribes
  • loaning you assistive technology
  • coordinating alternative assessment arrangements.

To book an appointment with our AccessAbility Support team, please contact us.

Are you an external support worker attending TAFE Queensland to support a student with a disability?

This free e-learning program has been developed by the National Disability Coordination Officer Program and the Australian Disability Clearinghouse on Education and Training. This program focuses on the roles and responsibilities of workers who are externally employed (paid or unpaid) by individuals and organisations to provide support to students with disability in tertiary settings. The program aims to develop your understanding of how you can best provide this support and manage your responsibilities.
