Boating Industry Association (BIA)
TAFE Queensland has joined forces with the Boating Industry Association (BIA) to deliver enhanced training opportunities and clearer career pathways for high school students pursuing futures in the marine sector.
TAFE Queensland has partnered with the Boating Industry Association (BIA) to create stronger pathways into the marine industry for high school students.
Through this partnership, BIA will support the delivery of Marine focused TAFE Queensland’s Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation (AUR20720) and Certificate II in Engineering Pathways (MEM20422) at the Coomera Marine campus, by providing industry-led experiences that enhance student learning and career exploration.
Students gain essential marine safety skills through the BIA issued Marine Card, insights into employment opportunities, and hands-on experience of real-world workplaces through guided tours of the Gold Coast Marine Precinct.
This partnership gives students practical industry exposure, recognised safety credentials, and a clearer line-of-sight to future careers in the marine sector.
Completing a TAFE at School course will seamlessly fit around your high school studies, with your TAFE course generally replacing one of your senior schooling subjects and our term dates aligning with Queensland school terms.
You must be a Year 11 or 12 student enrolled at a participating high school, in some instances Year 10 students may be considered. In addition, the duration of your TAFE at School course cannot be longer than your remaining high school studies.
A pre-apprenticeship course is a great way to help you stand out to employers and help you land an apprenticeship once you finish school.
