Careers created from training partnership
A partnership between Bridgeman and TAFE Queensland creates careers for Queenslanders in the construction and metal manufacturing industries.
Bridgeman and TAFE Queensland, each giants in their industries, have created meaningful, lifelong careers for Queenslanders thanks to a training partnership established in 2023 to address the issue of labour shortages in the metal manufacturing and construction industries.
With 17 apprentices in-training at the end of 2024, the Bridgeman Futures Program has proved a successful initiative to open and maintain career opportunities for Queenslanders in the construction and metal manufacturing industries.
A Queensland-headquartered industry leader, Bridgeman is committed to creating opportunities for all Queenslanders to succeed in meaningful careers that begin with an apprenticeship and transition to senior roles within the business.
Chief Executive Officer Scott Summers said the success of the program was demonstrated by apprenticeship graduates that could contribute to senior leadership roles within the company in future years.
“It is very satisfying to see the growth of apprentices as they go through their journey with TAFE Queensland and develop further into tradespeople and then progress into senior roles within our company,” Mr Summers said.
Apprenticeship opportunities at Bridgeman extend across the state, with apprentices based at its Brendale, Toowoomba, and Townsville locations and studying in traditional and school-based apprenticeship modes in various trades.
Like many industry leaders, Bridgeman believes in further training for its staff following their apprenticeships and engages TAFE Queensland to provide its employees with further tertiary study post trade qualification, allowing them to progress into senior roles within the company.
