Top tips for international student applications
So you've made up your mind, you know what you want to study and you're excited to get started. Now you're at the point where you need to start preparing your application.
Knowing all the information and documents you need to prepare and submit with your application will make the process easier for you, and will help get your application processed quicker. That's why we've rounded up our top tips for submitting your application to study as an international student at TAFE Queensland.
Entry requirements
First up, make sure you've familiarised yourself with the entry requirements for international student applications. There are two types of entry requirements:
You must meet both the English language and academic entry requirements for your course in order for your application to be accepted.
Supporting documents
You may already have most of the supporting documents you need handy, which is a great start.
For your application, you'll need certified copies of the following documents:
- passport
- educational certificate and academic records
- English language test results
- evidence of employment history (if applicable).

Statement of purpose
Your Statement of Purpose (or SOP for short) is a very important supporting document and crucial for your application. Think of it like a coffee and chat with our admissions team, answering some criteria questions. It’s a great way to introduce yourself (as we all know first impressions are important).
