About light automotive training

Set yourself on the path to a career in the light automotive field with an apprenticeship or on-campus training from TAFE Queensland. Get hands on with our practical courses and learn to repair and service small to medium sized vehicle engines and parts including cooling, braking, clutch, steering, suspension and exhaust systems. 

The automotive industry is progressing rapidly, with innovations such as electric and semi-autonomous vehicles dominating the market. TAFE Queensland partner with industry to ensure our students are working on the latest industry equipment and vehicles with donations from Toyota, Nissan, Chrysler, Holden and more.

We offer a comprehensive range of light automotive courses, from pre-apprenticeship programs through to apprenticeship and post-trade specialisations. You can also choose from a range of automotive specialisations including cylinder head reconditioning, LPG installation, mechanical overhauling, servicing technology,  air conditioning, underbody technology, tyre servicing, and outdoor power equipment.
