Youth Support

The Back to Work Youth team is providing a unique opportunity for youth aged between 15 and 24 years to access additional funds for short courses and support services for eligible youth applicants.

What support can be accessed?

Back to Work Jobseeker Officers may refer eligible young Queenslanders to tailored fee for service training options, and/or provide additional supports to meet the needs of the individual, bridging their gaps to sustainable employment.

Jobseekers must exhaust any existing funding opportunities prior to accessing Back to Work supports.

 

Eligibility for assessment

The Jobseeker Support Pool supports Queenslanders who identify with one or more of the following groups eligible for assessment:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • People with disability
  • Long-term unemployed people (unemployed for 52 weeks or longer)
  • Young people (aged 15-24 years, who are no longer at school)
  • Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) people

 

Youth Support

The Back to Work Youth team provides a unique opportunity for young people aged between 15 and 24 years who are no longer at school (including Link & Launch participants) to access additional funds for short courses and support services to transition to sustainable employment.

Back to Work Jobseeker Officers may refer eligible young Queenslanders to tailored fee for service training options, and/or provide additional supports to meet the needs of the individual, bridging their gaps to sustainable employment.

A Back to Work Jobseeker Officer will confirm an applicant’s eligibility for funding and support following completion of a career and training assessment which may take place by telephone call, or face-to-face

This support may include:

  • Work Ready Checklist & Prepare yourself for work sessions
  • Blue Card and Disability Worker Screener Card
  • Birth Certificates and Proof of Age ID Cards
  • Industry Licensing, including Security, High Risk and Real Estate etc
  • Accredited short courses, including machinery, construction, hospitality and many more
  • Driving lessons and licencing with Dept of Transport and Main Roads
  • Clothing and PPE

Applicants who are assessed as requiring a full qualification for their preferred employment pathway, will be referred to other fund sources, such as Certificate III Guarantee (C3G), Certificate III Guarantee Plus (C3G Plus) or Fee-Free TAFE.
