Course overview

Course overview

What we believe can affect how we think, feel and act which in turn can affect the outcomes we get in life.

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is the ability to identify, use, understand, and manage emotions in an effective and positive way. Critical thinking is the ability to think clearly and rationally to gather relevant information and better understand the logical connection between ideas. We can develop skills in emotional intelligence and critical thinking to have friendly conversations about difficult subjects with people, explore what's more likely to be a better way forward regarding problems that we face, and gain better control over the choices we make in life.

Throughout this course, the facilitator includes individual and group exercises, video playback, instructor led examples and opportunities to apply the principles and frameworks delivered to the current workplace and personal situations that each participant faces.

In the first 4 lessons, you will learn how to:

  • Overcome limiting self-beliefs to achieve more and live a truth-based life.
  • Identify your true self and become more self-aware to reach your true potential.
  • Be healthier mentally, develop sustainable healthy self-esteem and stay motivated.
  • Deal more effectively with negative emotions, set healthier boundaries and make better decisions.
  • Communicate more effectively in difficult situations with an awareness of what’s likely to invite less defensiveness and more responsiveness.
  • Identify, understand and develop better values to deal appropriately with conflict and the other inevitable problems that we must face and deal with in life.
  • Use the GROW coaching model to lead, guide and help others to focus on ways forward with the issues and goals that they have.
  • Use sound epistemology to discover reliable ways to know what’s true.

In the second half of the course, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Review from a practical perspective what has worked and what hasn’t regarding application in everyday life of the content covered in the first four weeks.
  • Practice having impossible conversations, and coaching and communicating safely with others, for example:

               - safe ways to explore what’s true regarding the claims that people make
               - safe ways to explore what’s true regarding the deeply held beliefs of others
               - safe ways to manage conflict and set boundaries
               - safe ways to coach others and provide feedback
