Course overview

This unit provides the skills and knowledge required to explore and use different combined techniques to produce finished ceramic work from design concepts. It involves planning works, preparing associated resources and creating ceramic works according to technical quality requirements. Techniques  and knowledge include elementary wheel throwing, rudimentary glaze technology, decorative surface techniques, and fundamental ceramic history and theory.  The unit applies to those who are still developing their expertise in design and technique. They work under supervision but have some independence and use discretion and judgement within defined guidelines.

This unit is a pre-requisite to undertaking CUACER512 Investigate ceramic materials and processes and CUACER511 Refine ceramic techniques.
