Course overview

Converting 3D CAD to Computer Numerical Control (CNC) and Laser Cutting.

  • Working with Computer-Controlled Machinery
  • Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machining and its Applications
  •  Workflow: From Creating 3D CAD Model to 3D Printing
  • Workflow: From Creating 3D CAD Model to 3D Laser Cutting

Discover best practices for 3D scanning environments and objects with precise measurements, converting them into models for 3D printing and laser cutting, and using them to create extended reality (XR) experiences. Ideal for engineering, architecture, and marine applications.

Participants will learn to process point cloud data to enhance 3D visualisation and ensure precision, ultimately reducing production costs by minimising errors and waste.

This course is facilitated by industry experts in 3D scanning in partnership with a Queensland-based company renowned for their expertise in laser scanning, spatial data, digital engineering and immersive experiences.

Applications used during this course are Rhino 8 as the 3D modelling software, supplemented by Arkio, Unity and its plugins such as Stipple and Pacelab WEAVR for creating immersive experiences.
