The VET Student Loans program assists eligible students enrolled in approved courses to pay their tuition fees.  The Australian Government charges full fee-paying (non-subsidised) students a 20 per cent loan fee in addition to their tuition fees.  A VET Student Loan is a debt that must be repaid.

Entry requirements

To be eligible to enrol into this course you must have successfully completed all of the following units of competency (or equivalent):

  • FNSACC321 Process financial transactions and extract interim reports
  • FNSACC322 Administer subsidiary accounts and ledgers
  • FNSACC418 Work effectively in the accounting and bookkeeping industry
  • FNSACC421 Prepare financial reports

Resources required

Access to the internet and a computer/laptop, USB, Microsoft Office 2013 or later version, stationery items, textbooks may be required to be purchased.

You may be required to work with Xero or MYOB files (provided by TAFE) for certain units. Please note that these MYOB files are only compatible with PC (not MAC).

Robina campus:
The Robina campus will be a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) campus for general learning.  Students are able to access discounted pricing for device purchases via JB Hi-Fi.  TAFE Queensland will have some portable devices available for short term loan and there will also be a limited number of desktop computers located on-site that students will be able to access.  For all the details visit the BYOD page on our website. 

Important information

Students who have completed Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or Accounting Principles Skills Set will potentially have completed units which will correspond towards the Diploma of Accounting. This may reduce the number of units required to complete the Diploma and reduce the overall price as prices are based on individual unit costs.

Online self-directed
When studying Online self-directed it is strongly recommended students follow the order of study and enrol in no more than two units per intake or the units required to complete one cluster/stage, unless otherwise advised.

You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
