Course overview

Learning another language diversifies and enriches people’s cognitive, social and linguistic development. Studying a foreign language is to travel to a new speaking-world and to connect with new gastronomy, music, clothing, stories and more. Also, literacy skills acquired in another language always enhance skills in one’s first language.

Spanish is the official language of Spain, Mexico and nine other Central American and Caribbean republics, nine nations in South America and Equatorial Guinea in Africa. It is the second language in countries such as the United States, the Philippines and Sweden and it is the preferred language on the internet, after English.

No previous knowledge is required. Spanish Conversation - Level 1 provides introductory vocabulary and structures of Spanish and is aimed at beginners.

Why study Spanish at TAFE?

Our Spanish Conversation - Level 1 is a hands-on course. With an easy and effective method, you will take your first steps. You will act in short plays, play games with like-minded language students in a collaborative environment and learn from a qualified tutor who will ensure a pleasant learning experience and assist you in developing your second language skills.

Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

  • Correctly recognise, pronounce and use a variety of vocabulary
  • Develop study skills by learning how to use digital dictionaries and interactive platforms.
  • Understand and use the basic structures of the Spanish grammar
  • Read and understand simple documents
  • Write complete sentences and short paragraphs
