- Act as a conduit between students and academic or administrative staff
- Gather student feedback through focus groups, surveys and informal conversations
- Present collective feedback at committee meetings to help shape decisions
- Communicate meeting outcomes back to peers in an accessible way
- Contribute to course and campus-specific solutions for student engagement
- Act as the student ‘face’ of TAFE Queensland at events and presentations
- Speak at Faculty Regional Orientations to welcome new students
- Engage prospective students at recruitment events and expos
- Present to school groups, in person or virtually, about the TAFE experience
- Lead campus tours showcasing facilities and student life
- Support new Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students settling into TAFE life
- Provide peer mentoring on time management, assessment prep and student life
- Promote engagement with Indigenous Student Support Services
- Liaise with the Indigenous Support Officer and educators for advice and support
- Complete the Yarning for Growth
- Help new international students build a sense of belonging and community
- Share your own experience of settling into TAFE life and study
- Provide general advice on available student services and how to access them
- Help students get familiar with the learning environment and expectations
- Take part in orientation and cultural events
- Support peers to build skills and confidence with digital tools used in study
- Guide peers on ICT/eLearning basics — password resets, Connect, LEAP, O365
- Review and feed back on digital student resources from a student perspective
- Help create student-friendly guides, graphics or short videos
- Share the student view on digital literacy initiatives with TAFE Queensland
- Attend local WHS committee meetings alongside staff representatives
- Informally gather student feedback on safety and sustainability concerns
- Promote awareness of safe and sustainable behaviours on campus
- Advise on student-led initiatives to enhance safety and sustainability
- Network with and support other Student Ambassadors
- Help promote wellbeing resources and services across campus
- Support key events such as Orientation, R U OK? Day and Mental Health Week
- Contribute to wellness content for the Student Online Orientation
- Refer students to appropriate support services, rather than advise directly
- Help maintain a safe, respectful campus environment
- Help educate others on how best to support LGBTIQA+ students
- Foster a welcoming environment where everyone feels safe and supported
- Advocate on behalf of LGBTIQA+ students' needs and interests
- Support events and initiatives for LGBTIQA+ days of significance
- Be a visible, identifiable point of contact for the community
